Well its official. Today we received our first rude comment about being pregnant/adding to our family. Technically it came via email last night...I just didn't read it till today. Its amazing the balls some people have! Yep I said it. So sue me. People can be SO rude.
Its unfortunate that this person has chosen & made decisions that have previously taken them out of our lives & they continue to try to alienate themselves further by saying such rude things. We've all had our issues with family I'm sure.
The comment we received today "wondered if we actually have room for another child in our lifestyle"....oh and that "you already have your plates full."
YEAH. Thanks. Thats so supportive & loving of you. Makes me want to fix all the problems we ever had & come visit right away. Oh wait...I'm too busy anyways.
For what its worth...ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. But at least we tried keeping you informed.
Oh and if it wasn't obvious before, it is now: You know NOTHING about our lifestyle! Nothing.
Oh and lets try to remain positive & remember what our Moms taught us...If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.
I cut out a full paragraph here in order to make this post worthy. I added the following...
FYI....Its hard to teach our children to CTR (Choose The Right) if we allow them to be exposed to the wrong....I mean willingly exposed, knowingly exposed.
Ahh vent complete....I think I feel better now. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this.
This is your blog and you have the right to vent. Being family doesn't automatically make one immune to making inappropriate and rude comments...
ReplyDeleteDo what you have to do and keep doing the best you can to raise your kids with your values. You can teach your kids *why* you don't interact much with So-and-So but also teach them not to judge others. *Everyone* has *something* that is an issue - whether it's rudeness, impatience, behaviors, whatever.
Sorry you have to deal with this. I think it's pretty cool that you had the restraint to edit this before posting!
wow, seriously? man that stinks. I can't believe that some people are so stupid, or think that thier opinions even matter. And it isn't like you got this email and said to yourself "oh this person is so right, there is no way we can handle another kid, so I should just not be pregnant any more!"
ReplyDeleteRemember that stress is not good for you or the little sprout. Tell me who it is, I am close enough to the end that I can go put the beatdown on them, and not feel bad. (Plus, who would throw a 8 month preggo in jail??)
This makes me so mad for you. reminds me of when my sister (SO not involved in my life) got all pissed because I was getting married at 20 years old. Like it was any of her business, and she was never around, and has never even met my husband or any of my kids.
For what it is worth, I am super happy for you guys, and can't wait to meet the newest Patino munchkin(s)!

Wow. We need to catch up. They actually wrote that to you? Some nerve people have. Really - what "lifestyle" are they referring to that wouldn't welcome more kids? Wow. Just wow.
